Holiday Events in Lexington

The holidays are the time of year you finally have time off work and can fully enjoy the company of your friends and family. It can be cozy to play it low key and snuggle on the couch, but when Kentucky has so many events this holiday season, what better way to finish 2017 strong then to relish in the holiday festivities?

If you want to delight in a real Kentucky Christmas, add these holiday events to your agenda.

The Nutcracker. A perennial holiday favorite returns to the EKU Center for the Arts in an enchanting production that will be treasured by every member of the family. A Christmas staple, nothing gets you and the family in the holiday spirit like this beautiful production.

Southern Lights Holiday Festival. Lexington is the “horse capital of the world,” so it shouldn’t seem too surprising that the holiday season features some equine enchantment. For more than 20 years, the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation has sponsored a driving tour of holiday lights that attracts over 120,000 visitors each year. After driving through the lights, guests are invited to park and enjoy the attractions in the park’s interior, which are designed to entertain every member of the family-from local crafts, model trains and mini train rides, visits with Santa, to the exotic petting zoo.

Lexington Christmas Parade. Kick off the holiday season at the state’s largest holiday parade December 6th.You can wave to Santa and his helpers while getting into the Christmas spirit with your loved ones.

UK vs Harvard. Not into the whole ‘Santa and his Reindeer’ thing? December brings a rivalry game you won’t want to miss. UK vs Harvard will take place at the Rupp Arena in Lexington.
